Many awards and achievements presented at ESPNIC 2021 Xperience

ESPNIC was happy to share many achievements and give various research awards and grants at the closing of the 32nd Annual Meeting of the European Society of Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care (ESPNIC 2021) that took place from 15th to 18th June. It surprises with high level research presentations, went beyond the scientific and also presented all in different new formats.

Scientific Achievements and Projects

ESPNIC and its 14 sections and 4 working groups have shared their different achievements and projects in short reports open for the general public. Many of the projects are also collaborative and transversal and have been made in cooperation with colleagues from all over Europe and the whole world.

Young Investigators Award

Each year ESPNIC recognises young investigators by giving an award for the best research of a young ESPNIC Member. One of the most exciting parts is the presentation, ranked by the whole ESPNIC Executive committee and Section chairs. This year there were 6 presenters and two got awarded for both their research and presentation. These are:

1st Young Investigator Award went to Laura Butragueño-Laiseca (Spain) for her paper “PIPERACILLIN-TAZOBACTAM PHARMACOKINETICS IN CRITICALLY ILL CHILDREN”. She wins 1200 Euro, complimentary registration and travel expenses covered up to 500 Euro to the next ESPNIC Annual Meeting and one year complimentary membership

2nd YIA

2nd Young Investigator Award went to Luca Marchetto for “COMPARISON OF SEPSIS PROGNOSTIC SCORES ACCURACY IN PREDICTING OUTCOMES IN CRITICALLY ILL CHILDREN WITH SEPSIS ADMITTED TO THE PICU: A SINGLE TERTIARY CENTER 10-YEAR EXPERIENCE”. He receives 800 Euro Award, one year complimentary membership, complimentary registration to the next ESPNIC Annual Meeting

Nursing Awards

The two short oral awards of 500 EUR complimentary registration and travel expenses covered up to 500 EUR to the next ESPNIC Annual Meeting, one-year complimentary nursing membership went to Claire Magner, Ireland and Vincenza Sansone, Italy.

The two e-poster awards of complimentary registration the next ESPNIC Annual Meeting and one year complimentary membership were given to Azadeh Assadi for MACROCOGNITIVE PROCESSES OF PEDIATRIC CARDIAC INTENSIVISTS – WHAT ARE THE EXPERTS THINKING? and to Kyung-Sung Bang for EFFECTS OF THE ANTICIPATORY GUIDANCE ABOUT NEONATAL INTENSIVE CARE UNIT FOR MOTHERS AT RISK OF PRETERM DELIVERY

Denis Devictor Award

This year the award for outstanding achievement by an individual in the field of Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Medicine went to Peter Rimensberger, Switzerland – former ESPNIC president and well known and respected ventilation specialist.
