Dear Friends,
Welcome to the European Society for Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care and welcome to the new main ESPNIC website!
Our society significantly evolved in recent years and we wanted this to be reflected in this intuitive and useful website including all our activities and describing who we are.
Who are we? ESPNIC is one of the oldest and largest pediatric scientific societies in Europe and the only one exclusively dedicated to critical care, that is to sickest children affected by complex disorders needing a vital support, complex techniques and a multi-disciplinary emergency management.
ESPNIC values to be truly multidisciplinary and multiprofessional and is focusing on intensive care and most critically ill patients, irrespective of their age. Our competences span from NICU to PICU, as we take care of neonates in life-threatening situations due to typically perinatal conditions to adolescent suffering from trauma and more “adult” diseases. We focus on medical care as much as nursing and allied healthcare professionals support.
This is our force and our peculiarity: we believe that all these different contributions are important when it comes to critical care. We believe that we can only learn from each other and also from the world of adult intensive care medicine.
Whether you work in a NICU or in a PICU, as physicians, a nurse or an allied healthcare professional, you are more than welcome. You will find here the way to exchange and learn, research grants for your projects, network opportunities or to let us know your work.
Prof. Daniele De Luca (MD, PhD)
Medical President
Dear PICU and NICU nurses and AHP,
We invite you to join us at the European Society for Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care.
ESPNIC is the European multidisciplinary pediatric and neonatal critical care society where nurses and allied health professionals are full and active members contributing to the development of science, education and leadership in the field. Our aim is to develop and disseminate PICU and NICU clinical expertise, research competence and networking among European nurses and AHP. As in Europe the nursing PICU and NICU clinical care, staffing, professional development and education pathways are highly diverse we envision ESPNIC as a collaborative Society where PICU and NICU nurses and AHPs can meet, develop and learn evidence based practice, nursing science, and education.
Within the Society nurses and AHPs can join any section or working group according to our personal expertise and interests.
We look forward to meeting you at our Section meetings and future conference, at EAPS in Barcelona in 2022.
