Research School

This two-and-a-half days’ program aims to build research methods knowledge and research capacity by promoting future collaboration and networking between multidisciplinary healthcare professionals working in paediatric and neonatal acute and critical care. Lectures, and discussions are led by established professorial faculty with many years of experience in paediatric and neonatal critical care. The course is intended for all clinicians and researchers (physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, psychologists, and others) interested in clinical research and evidence-based practice in paediatric and neonatal critical care, anaesthesia, emergency and acute paediatric medical specialties. The program is designed as a road map from developing your research to becoming an established clinical academic, and provides:

• Opportunities for participants to discuss their projects/ideas in safe and facilitated peer group discussions.
• Keynote plenary lectures and interactive workshops. Various research methodological approaches to answer innovative clinical questions.
• To practice communication skills via the 3-minute study pitch and automatically enter the contest. Participants of the top 3 best pitches will win prizes (1st prize: free entry to next ESPNIC congress, 2nd prize: free research school, 3rd prize free ESPNIC membership for one year).
• Networking opportunities with people who share similar passions and interests.
• To build national, European, and international research collaborations in paediatric- and neonatal-related fields
• To create networks of early career and senior researchers in these fields.
• In addition to the 2-day educational program, a half-day Writing for Publication workshop will be offered to allow clinicians and researchers with a draft paper ready, to benefit from the expertise of journal editors in refining this ready for submission

LOCATION
This in-person Research School will take place in Lausanne Switzerland at the Childrens’ hospital-CHUV.

ESPNIC Members: 240€

ESPNIC Non-Members: 290€

Registration deadline is Dec 30, 2025. Note. Please be aware that you can apply to become an ESPNIC member before the 30th of Dec to benefit from the members rate and membership until the 31 of December 2026.
The fee covers participation in the two-day program, half-day workshop, and coffees/teas. Lunch is available at a reduced rate, and the course dinner is optional and not included in the price.
