Journal Club

Advancing practice through critical discussion of research

The ESPNIC Journal Club is an educational initiative designed to promote evidence-based practice through the critical discussion of current research in paediatric and neonatal intensive care.

Open to healthcare professionals from different disciplines, the Journal Club provides a collaborative environment in which participants can explore new scientific evidence, develop critical appraisal skills and discuss how research findings can be translated into clinical practice. Each session focuses on a selected research article and encourages multidisciplinary exchange and shared learning.

Sessions are led by experienced facilitators and combine a structured presentation of the featured publication with an interactive discussion involving participants and, whenever possible, the authors of the research or recognised experts in the field. This approach supports the practical application of evidence while fostering international collaboration within the ESPNIC community.

Research articles and joining information are shared in advance of each session to allow participants to prepare if they wish.

Recordings of previous Journal Club sessions are available through the ESPNIC Exclusive Hub, providing members with continued access to educational resources and discussions.
